One company seldom (if ever) changes its sales compensation program…a historical museum in the making. Making changes is considered risky and contrary to what sales management promised sellers. Another company tilts back and forth on a hot skillet with new plan features/contests and corrections, almost monthly. Why so many changes? Objectives are changing and changing fast: The sales department needs to be nimble! Learn how to preclude the pay plan from ossifying—never changing—or driving the sales force crazy with monthly tweaks and gimmicks.
