    Job Duties:

    • Administer, assess, and implement SMU's compensation programs. Oversee and maintain the integrity of SMU's job classification framework and compensation structure (e.g. job titles, job codes, pay grades, etc.). Update and maintain pay structures, grades, compensation guidelines. Administer and oversee position management within HRIS system. Oversee and manage career paths for employees to assist managers in designing effective development opportunities. 
    • Manage annual merit process, including compiling information, documents, and sending communication. Collaborate with Office of Budget, Financial Business Managers, HR Business Analyst, and HR team members to ensure data and documents are properly collected and processed.  
    • Perform special projects, ad hoc market analysis, and prepare data reports as requested. Monitor and maintain compensation-related data integrity analysis, identify issues, and provide recommendations to correct. Continuously review processes and identify methods to improve the workflow and timeliness. Recommend and create compensation practices procedures as needed or when appropriate.

    Education & Experience:

    • A Bachelor’s degree is required.

      • Develop and enforce policies and procedures related to compensation programs.
      • Stay abreast of legal and regulatory changes impacting compensation and proactively implement industry best practices.
      • Participate in executive compensation activities including the development of materials for the Compensation Committee, drafting the CD&A and interfacing with the independent consultants.
      • Provide coaching and feedback to direct reports to aid in their development.
      • Develop and track the team’s budget. Select appropriate salary surveys and oversee participation.
      • Experience in building out a compensation project management plan including scoping, planning, and execution with attention to detail and adherence to deadlines.
      • Work with the executive leadership team on incentive design and other relevant pay strategies across the organization.

      Education & Experience:

      Bachelors degree in business, finance or related field plus a minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in compensation management, with a track record of success in designing and implementing effective compensation programs.

      Preferred Education, Experience, or Skills:

      • Construction industry and executive compensation in a publicly traded company preferred.
      • CCP (Certified Compensation Professional) designation preferred.
      • Advanced knowledge of Excel.
      • Expert knowledge of relevant Federal, State, Local laws, regulations relating to compensation.
      • Strong problem-solving capabilities, including the ability to clearly define problems, collect data, draw conclusions, and effectively influence others.
      • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.
      • Deep understanding of compensation principles, practices, and methodologies, with specific expertise in job architecture, evaluation, salary benchmarking, and incentive design.
      • Strong executive presence and ability to work effectively with senior leadership.
      • Expert with the full spectrum of approaches and tools used for compensation-related market research, modeling and analysis.
      • Ability to manage multiple complex initiatives at the same time.

      The Compensation Manager is responsible for driving the compensation process for the organization. This position owns the design, management, communication, compliance, and administration of our compensation programs including base pay, short- and long-term incentives, annual merit cycle increase, job levels and all other pay programs and policies.       Job Duties:

      • Build and maintain complex excel models to analyze and evaluate compensation data, including salary surveys, market trends and labor demand with a heavy focus on over 5,000 retail hourly employees across the United States.

      Education & Experience:

        • 8+ years of compensation experience
        • Bachelors degree in business, Accounting, Finance, Statistics, Human Resources or equivalent experience; CCP a plus
        • Able to demonstrate experience with Pay-Setting and Compensation, Benchmarking, and Salary Survey participation
        • Advanced MS Excel skills -modeling, visualization, data analysis
        • Proficiency with PowerPoint to create charts, graphs and calculations.

        Job Summary:

        The Senior Compensation & Benefits Analyst administers compensation, benefits, workers’ compensation, wellness programs, and related human resources information systems, legislative updates, documents, and records for the organization.  This position is also responsible for monitoring, and reporting benefits, compensation and wellness metrics, budget, legislative updates, and contract management activities. This position is responsible for administering and implementing effective compensation programs that positively influence employee recruitment and retention. This is accomplished by developing, upgrading, and revising the existing salary plans as needed, administering the pay for performance program, conducting, and participating in market salary studies, developing and analyzing job descriptions, assigning pay ranges and making new hire salary recommendations.

        Job Duties:

        • Administers the compensation function by developing and implementing effective compensation programs, base pay salary grade development, maintenance and revision, job analysis and other compensation functions as assigned.

        • Analyzes and develops job descriptions for each position in the organization.  Regularly reviewed and update job descriptions to ensure the descriptions accurately reflect the work being performed by incumbents.

        • Works with the Comp & Benefits team to coordinate annual enrollment, annual benefits and wellness events, benefit vendor on-site visits, and wellness program initiatives.
        • Analyze compensation and benefits data to identify trends, areas for improvement, and opportunities for cost savings.
        • Partner with HR leadership to identify and develop effective total rewards strategies that support employee engagement and retention.
        • Partners with the Benefits Analyst to assist with the administration of benefit plans by reconciling payroll deductions/employer contributions, processing payments to vendors, responding to general questions, disseminating information, researching legislative changes, implementing changes.
        • Assists with benefits inquires by meeting with employees to answers questions and assists with benefit plan issues. Advises employees regarding eligibility and coverage provisions for medical, dental, vision, group life, disability, and retirement plans. Delivers new hire orientation and other related areas of employee/supervisor training. 
        • Working in collaboration with the HRIS Manager, coordinates HRIS activities by coordinating set ups and interface processes relating to the organization’s human resources information systems, troubleshooting interface errors, and system testing.
